Platelet Rich Plasma

About Platelet Rich Plasma

THE ANGEL LIFT is the latest procedure that draws on the body’s own ‘anti-ageing serum’ PLATELET RICH PLASMA, to rejuvenate and restore your youthful complexion. We have seen astounding results after as little as one treatment, and unlike botox or fillers, visible improvement continues to take place as the body regenerates its own collagen and elastin. Because your skin is rejuvenating itself, it is also one of the most affordable long term anti-ageing procedures on the market.

  • RESULTS: Natural looking rejuvenation of the skin
  • VISITS: Course of 3 treatments
  • HOW OFTEN: 1 treatment a month for 3-4 months
  • LONG TERM: We recommend maintenance 2-3 timer per year

HOW IT WORKS:

Platelet Rich Plasma contains high concentrations of growth factors, which accelerate the natural healing process. Our PRP differs entirely from other (cheaper) treatments on the market. We use a highly sophisticated system that separates the red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets into separate compartments enabling clinicians to create the exact formula required to treat specific conditions.

In order to be effective in activating stem cells, the injected Platelet Rich Plasma concentration must be 4 to 6 times the patient’s whole blood platelet count. Our system achieves this benchmark, and delivers measureable results using a double spin centrifuge system. Although there are a number of inferior centrifuge systems on the market, we at Medical Aesthetic Laser Clinic invest only in the highest quality systems, thus enabling us to deliver a higher quality result to the client.

The treatment itself must be performed in a medical clinic and under sterile conditions, by an experienced clinician. This is not a beauty therapy treatment, nor is it a ‘standard’ cosmetic procedure. The Angel Lift is one of the most advanced clinical procedures available in history. Platelets are in their nature very fragile, thus must be injected with much precision and care.

POPULAR QUESTIONS

What is PRP?
-+

PRP is plasma that’s been enriched with blood platelets. Plasma is the straw-colored liquid that contains the other components of the blood, including red and white blood cells and platelets. Platelets are tiny bodies that help blood to clot and wounds to heal.

Are There Any Side Effects at All With PRP?
-+

Some people may feel tenderness or pain in the area where they were injected. There may also be some discolouration of skin. Rarely, the area is infected. All of these side effects can be dealt with fairly easily.

How is PRP created?
-+

PRP is created from the patient’s own blood. The patient donates some of their blood, which is then placed in a centrifuge. The spinning action of the centrifuge separates the platelets from the other material that makes up the blood, and the platelets are added to the plasma. When the PRP is ready to use, it has several times as many platelets as that found in untreated blood.

What is a Vampire Facelift?
-+

The so-called vampire facelift happens when PRP is injected into the face to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. It is often used with dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that helps to keep the skin hydrated.

How Much Blood Is Taken?
-+

The nurse will need different amounts of blood for different treatments.

Is There a Risk of Rejection?
-+

There’s no risk of rejection, because PRP comes from the patient’s blood.

Why is the Amount of Platelets Important?
-+

The concentration of platelets lets PRP have many growth factors like interleukin 8, growth factors for connective tissue, insulin-like growth factors 1 and 2, fibroblast growth factor, connective tissue growth factor and epidermal growth factors.

When was PRP First Used?
-+

The first use of PRP was in 1987. It was used during heart surgery, and its popularity has grown steadily since the 1990s.

Who is a Good Candidate for PRP?
-+

A good candidate for PRP is a person who is in overall good health and has realistic expectations about what PRP can do. What makes a good candidate also depends on the procedure. For example, a person who wants PRP for hair loss should have naturally thinning hair and a good number of active hair follicles. A person with a severe case of osteoarthritis is probably not good candidate for PRP.

What Else is PRP Used For?
-+

PRP is used to treat arthritis, chronic pain, dentistry, sports injuries and bone fractures. It’s also used to treat hair loss. There’s evidence that PRP stimulates hair growth in men with pattern baldness. Scientists believe this happens because PRP causes the body to make special cells called keratinocytes, which in turn leads to the growth of blood vessels in the patient’s hair follicles.

Can a Pregnant Woman Use PRP Therapy?
-+

Yes. Since it is her blood that is being used, it is not harmful to her or the baby.

How Long Does a Vampire Facelift Session Last?
-+

Depending on the number and depth of wrinkles and lines, a vampire facelift can last between 45 and 60 minutes, but much of this time is spent spinning the blood in the centrifuge. The treatment itself lasts from 15 minutes to a half an hour.

What’s the Difference Between PRP and Stem Cell Therapy?
-+

Stem cells are cells that are found in cord blood, fat and bone marrow and can turn into other types of cells if they are transplanted into an area of the body. Like PRP, they are rich in growth factors, and the body doesn’t reject them.
